Summer is coming!
There is nothing more festive than adding a little umbrella to a smoothie or shake in the summer time.
(Disregard the fact that this smoothie looks off-colored. It is a spinach smoothie with berries. Looks disgusting, but it is actually delicious and healthy!)
I finally got around to trying out some homemade drink umbrellas (tutorial courtesy of Martha Stewart).
They were really easy and fun to make.
What you need:
-scrapbook paper
-toothpicks or wood skewers
-glue
-double-sided tape
To make:
Using a soup can, trace a circle onto your paper. Cut with straight or scallop-edged scissors. Cut a small triangle out from the edge of the circle to the center. Attach a piece of tape to the edge of the triangle and tape the 2 edges of the circle together to form an umbrella shape. Dot some glue on the inside of the umbrella where it peaks. Then take a skewer and poke through the top. The glue will keep it in place.
